For the Foodservice Industry Watlow's Multicoil Heaters Package Multiple Coils and Thermocouples in One Sheath for Quick Installation
Multicoil Package Multiple Coils and Thermocouples ST. LOUIS - Watlow's newly-developed MULTICOIL tubular elements benefit food service equipment operators with their internal sensors within tubular heaters. The patent-pending method of packaging a thermocouple and multiple resistant coils inside a single sheath represents the first tubular heater in the industry with this three-phase capability while ensuring a versatile, innovative heating method for foodservice applications.

MULTICOIL tubular heaters offer the ability to sense internal sheath temperature accurately - every time. The three-phase capability means only one element is required, thereby lowering amperage as well as reducing installation time and overall cost. By including the thermocouple in the sheath, contamination buildup around the external sensing tip is eliminated. This greatly reduces the possibility of false readings from the element temperature running hotter than normal due to the inability to dissipate heat from the buildup.

When used in conjunction with other automated cooking system components, the system provides the following benefits that ensure the quality of the foodservice cooking process: Failure prediction - indicates if and when a heater will fail;

  • Burnout failure prediction - eliminates possibility of a cold zone within the equipment, and thus uncooked food;
  • High/low safety alarms - monitors proper cooking levels; and
  • Service alarm - indicates an element is not properly heating.

Watlow can customize the heaters with two or three coils, depending on the diameter requirements. One or more of the coils can be resistance wires or thermocouples. Internal thermocouples have high-limit sensing, are extremely accurate and responsive, and reduce assembly costs since no additional parts are required.

Tubular multicoil heaters can be formed into virtually any configuration and are available in standard materials such as Incoloy®, 304 and 316 stainless steel.

Multicoil tubular heaters can be customized for applications in industrial processing, medical, plastics, semiconductor, plating and oven heating.

Watlow is the world's largest custom designer and manufacturer of industrial heaters, sensors and controls. The firm's corporate headquarters are in St. Louis, Missouri with manufacturing facilities worldwide.
